Monitoring and control equipment can be understood as one of the key technologies of aquaculture in the 21st century because the use of intelligent adaptive control systems enables aquaculture producers to reduce manual labor to a minimum and at the same time improve production safety and breeding conditions.

 

SENECT monitoring and control systems are based on the modular principle and you can put together your own system and put it into operation. You decide which tasks should be carried out and you can upgrade your system without the help of an electrician at any time. The decentralized, modular design architecture brings decisive advantages for you:   

  • Technology can be expanded or changed at any time

  • Efficient task management: the right control for every task

  • The tasks are carried out by an on-site controller, significantly less wiring is required (cost savings)

  • Increased safety through separate functional units (in contrast to centrally constructed monolithic systems, in which a failure can paralyze the entire system)

  • Install the technology yourself to save money and gain control of your system

  • In addition to the appropriate sensors and controls, SENECT also offers other components (actuators) that are tailored to the system, such as solenoid valves, automatic feeders, or drum filters. The SENECT control system also gives you the freedom to connect actuators from other manufacturers.

  • With the SENECT control system and the appropriate components such as valves, pumps, filters, and automatic feeders, you can upgrade technically or completely equip new systems and thus benefit from the advantages and performance of the SENECT control system.

 

The typical control tasks in aquaculture systems are always the same, which is why the SENECT controls are equipped with intelligent functions to take over these tasks.

 

These include, for example:

 

  • Online monitoring of parameters and alarms (e.g. O2, water level): Each SENECT controller can be connected to a standard WLAN network. On the one hand, you can use the SENECT app to directly access the current measured values, settings, or recorded data, and on the other hand, alarm messages can be sent to your smartphone and by email, for example, if the threshold values ​​are undershot.

  • Ventilation control: The measurement of the oxygen content with the long-term stable O2S oxygen sensor makes it possible to switch on the ventilation only when it is needed. This saves energy and thus money directly. Also, unnecessary material wear is prevented, and - depending on the aerator type and system - the pH value is not increased due to unnecessary degassing (CO2 removal).

  • Automatic feeder control: The SENECT controls have a powerful automatic feeder menu:

 

  • Different timing variants (e.g. at fixed times or intervals)

  • Calibration: Display of the amount of feed in grams

  • Oxygen: Suspend feeding if the oxygen content is too low

  • In connection with the addition of oxygen: increase the oxygen content before feeding

  • Temperature-dependent feed quantity control

  • Oxygen control: When using technical oxygen, exact control is necessary to avoid over- and underdosing. The oxygen supply can be controlled, for example via solenoid valves, by measuring the oxygen content with the optical oxygen sensor O2S.

 

  • Drum filter control: The FILTER | CONTROL, and AQUACULTURE | CONTROL controls can be used to control drum and endless belt filters. With their intelligent control algorithms, these controls ensure smooth and extremely reliable operation of filters. The powerful features include:

 

  • Contamination-dependent cleaning trigger, compensated for water level fluctuations

  • Intensive cleaning program

  • EcoMode: up to 50% water and energy savings

  • Intelligent emergency shutdown

  • Pump monitoring and emergency shutdown

  • Measuring the water level, for example with the SENECT level probe PS, can also be used to monitor the hydraulics of your system. For example, pump failure can be detected or pumps can be switched off even if the water level is too low.

  • Ozone dosing: The addition of ozone can be controlled by measuring the redox potential with the ORP sensor XT-1. Additional protective mechanisms such as an adjustable maximum duration ensure safe operation.

 

  • In addition to these classic tasks, you can also perform individually adjusted regulation and control tasks with the SENECT controls. For example, you can:

 

  • Switch outputs individually based on sensor measured values

  • Program time controls (also with start-up ramp etc.) (e.g. light)

  • Switch outputs depending on other outputs

  • Pass on alarm signals to other devices

 

This diversity of functionality means that the SENECT controls can take on almost all control tasks in aquaculture systems.
